I love the Republic of Ireland national team. Club football is special and whether its Shamrock Rovers, Liverpool or Celtic makes no difference as long as you care, but the national team is a bigger, broader thing that captures a whole nation.
For me Ireland need to be qualifying every time for World Cup and Euro Finals, and doing justice on that stage.
We're not at that day yet, but it will come...
This blog was launched in difficult days - savage media coverage of the team, and Croke Park far too big and inviting to the "pundits" who dont care about anything except a night out. "Robbie Keane should die" was a quote I heard coming out of the ground, and people like that shouldnt be associated with the team.
The French play off in Paris has changed things though. We now know the level of performance this team is capable of and so we move on.
